Happy 12th Birthday, Georgia!

Georgia on my mind. Today, my baby girl turns 12 and I’ve decided to write her letter.

Dearest girlie,

I will never forget how you came into the world making a grand entrance 7 weeks before your due date. I will never forget the 2 weeks you spent in the NICU and everytime a monitor would go off, my heart would start racing. You haven’t changed. You make grand entrances and the speed at which you are growing up makes my heart race. I ache for the days to slow down and let me soak in your radiant beauty, beauty that truly is from the inside out. I will never forget at the sweet age of 4 you said, “Mommy, God gave me a lot of love in my heart”. Yes He did, Georgia! You have so much love to share.

At 12 we call you the Dog Whisperer. You can calm the most frightened dog. I will never forget at the young age of 8 you wanted to start pet sitting and you made it happen. You used your own money to print flyers and distribute them to all the neighbors…our entrepreneur. At 12 you are not a morning person like your moma, but yet a night owl like your daddy. In fact, you are so much like your daddy I have a hard time telling you apart! I love that you got his wit and sense of humor! You love sleep, but not naps. You’ve always hated naps! At 12 you are still the fighter you came into this world being. If there is something you want you don’t stop trying. Like Instagram. Girlfriend, I wish I had kept track of how many powerpoint presentations you put together for your case. Now you are set on having a later bedtime. I have a feeling we will be seeing some more presentations. 😉 I know this strong will has a great purpose in your life and it will serve you well. I am so very proud of who you are! At 12 even though you probably wouldn’t openly admit it, you deeply love your brother. One of my greatest gifts as being your mother is watching you and Ben being friends. I love how you and he can spend hours on creating a family game show, talent show, or my favorite was the restaurant you two created for dad and I to have a “date”. At 12 you’ve given up the mustache craze but are now obsessed with UNICORNS. And let’s not forget the coolest TV show you’ve introduced me to, Once Upon A Time! I have been soaking in this summer of snuggling on the couch for hours trying to get caught up before the new season starts. At 12, and always, I will be here for you. I love you. But, could you please slow down with this growing up stuff?

Love,

Mom
