Her biggest fan :)

Four years ago in the spring I sent an email to this amazing photographer I looked up to and asked her to help me as I was getting started in the business. She had never met me and honestly it would have been so easy to have ignored my email. But Kim DeLoach isn’t that kind of lady. She didn’t see me as a threat to her business, she saw an opportunity to guide a newbie who had the same passion she did, photography. I will absolutely never forget taking Ben out to Furman University one morning and meeting Kim up there to have her help me with posing, lighting, camera settings, you name it… she was an open book.

The past four years I have been blessed to get to hold the reflector, grab a ladder, carry bags and learn from Kim. I love God’s timing and His humor…I remember being very adamant that I was completely comfortable being Kim’s second shooter for weddings and had no interest whatsoever in my own weddings. But Kim kept encouraging me to go out on my own. Fast forward a couple of years and there I was booking a few of my own. Then last year I was given the opportunity to join the Jana Candler Network with Jana, Kim & another sweet photographer Rebecca. You see the four of us firmly believe that God calls us to community not only in our personal lives, but in our businesses as well. I have been so grateful to come along their side. My growth began and continues because of this sweet lady, Kim.

But the truth is that’s not all she is to me. She is truly one of my sweetest blessings from God. There is nothing like her laugh and that beautiful big smile! Her kind words of encouragement at just the right time have been life giving. She has been there for me professionally, personally and spiritually. And don’t get me started on the fact that she gets my obsession with stopping at the gas station for combos and a water on a road trip…they are essentials. Or those late night McDonald’s runs after a wedding that no one knows about because I’m all about eating healthy. 😉 She gets me and better yet…she makes me feel good about myself. We all need a friend like that! I’m so thankful I get to call Kim, friend!
