What to wear for your fall photo session

If there’s one thing I get more questions on than anything else, it’s “what do we wear?”. It’s a great question. It can make your photos that much more appealing. Is it more work for you?, yes, but it is so worth it! The more thought and consideration you put into this part will show in the end.

First of all, let’s admit it…it feels good to wear something NEW! We instantly feel a few pounds lighter and not just on the outside. It’s a mental game. You feel more confident, more alive, and you feel more invested in what the pictures will look like. There is something to be said about the classic white shirts and jeans or any combination of matching…but my favorite end results (and I think yours will be too) is when everyone has their own style, but it all blends.  Make it your own! You’ll feel good about yourself and it’ll show.

Fall is my favorite season and it can handle rich colored wardrobes. There’s not all these colors of flowers to contend with, it’s just beautiful orange, yellow, and greens of nature.  So, for some fun, here’s examples from last fall that I think rocked:Amanda Myers is such a natural beauty and she stuck with classic cream paired with  denim, but she got this dreamy fall look by adding a little layering, a chunky watch for a fun accessory and dark brown loafers. It really worked!

For this fall photo the Carson girls came all dressed in browns, cream and a hint of light blue. No dramatic colors, but what I love about they’re look is they sported their own personalities. The outfits were flattering, complimentary and look at the brown tutu!!

Melissa DeWalk can put together a photo shoot wardrobe like no other! This was my absolute favorite from last year and if I’m not mistaken it all came from Old Navy. Loved the layers and the different yet complimentary styles they are all wearing! And I think Christian’s stripes of orange just made the picture pop and draw your eye to the gorgeous fallen leaves all around.

Okay, so now here’s a couple of ideas for this year to help you get in the spirit of things:

And one more from Inspire Me Baby…They are full of great ideas, so check them out online!

Happy Friday everyone! Don’t forget to call me for a fall photo session, it’s right around the corner. 🙂
