Happy 14th Birthday, Benjamin!

Thirteen was a wild ride and I know you’ll keep me on my toes at fourteen! You’ve got this independence that will serve you well, but for now, I’m thankful you still need me to bring you movie candy home from the store. 🙂 You spent this last year obsessed with basketball, the show PARKS & REC, and all the crazy YouTube videos that make us laugh. You have this way of talking to adults and peers alike that make people want to be near you. You’re comfortable in your own skin. You know who you are. You know Whose you are. I’m so proud of the young man you are becoming and I’m excited about this next year. You took quarantine in stride and didn’t let a pandemic like COVID change who you are. You make the best of wherever you are.

I love that you still check on me at bedtime, because that’s where we are…I’m ready to go to bed before anyone else. I love that you put up with my constant nagging to make running a priority in your life (it is an essential life skill ;)) I love that when I asked to do your fourteen year pics, you said, “Will it make you happy?”.  You’ve got a heart so big! Thanks for taking care of your mama so well. Love you, Benjamin!
