A new road…

After 14 months of making a career in lifestyle photography, I find myself being lead down a new road… weddings. I have felt God’s gentle nudging and I will admit I’ve been hesitant. I have found somewhat of a comfort in family sessions and really didn’t see any reason to add weddings. But, God has graciously been laying every stone in front of me to follow on the journey He wants me to be on.  As I trust Him, I’m finding much joy in the change!

It was just over a year ago I had my first opportunity to second shoot a wedding.  Then months later, in August, Jodi Byrnes, of Jodi Byrnes Photography posted on a local photographers facebook page that she needed an assistant for an upcoming wedding. I really felt the need to give it a try…to see if there was a passion for this type of photography. So, as God would have it, I ended up second shooting that wedding with her. Jodi is so laid back and easy to work for and we quickly found a rhythm to the day. Although, I will confess I did not wear comfortable shoes for standing 8 hours, I did find that I loved capturing the joy of this special day!

There is a newness to love on a wedding day that you can sometimes forget to nurture when you have been married many many years. Weddings help remind us that to be truly happy in love, you have to be intentional…you have to actively pursue the other. Of course, it’s impossible to stay in that courting phase when the demands of children come along…but, weddings like Anna-Layne & Brandon’s compel me to make more of an effort in love.  Today, find one way to rekindle your love, one way to show you truly care and I promise you will feel love’s joy!
