New Year, New Drink.

Pink Drink, as it’s affectionately called by those of us that drink it. Notice I couldn’t get a picture of my “pink drink” because I had already finished it before the camera came out. But it was GOOD! 😉

Okay, I have really hesitated to even say one thing about my new journey because it makes me vulnerable. And I hate that. Last month’s unexpected surgery had me so vulnerable and with that sense of frailty of life came lots of soul searching. I want to be the healthiest me I can be. Not that my health had anything to do with a long strand of appendectomy scar tissue wrapping itself around my small intestines, but I will be honest…I gave very little thought to my small intestines before this.

So, here I am perfectly perched at the beginning of a new year after a 6 week recovery and looking into the future. If there is one thing I want to represent 2015 it’s my family’s nutrition. I have over the past few years followed my dear friend and health coach, Chris DeHollander, on a number of clean eating detox plans. I love my veggies and I love knowing I’m being good to my body. Problem is when I’d come off a detox I’d fall right back into my old ways. I love bad carbs. Who doesn’t? I love breads and I love sweets. For a long time I had the mentality I could eat what I wanted because I loved to work out. Yeah, that’s not true. Even if I’m not “overweight”, I’m not fueling my body the way it deserves. I want to be in all sense of the word, H-E-A-L-T-H-Y.

Enter my sister. She texts me about this all-natural product that was originally formulated for diabetics to level out their blood sugars and has helped so many people lose weight by not only curbing your appetite but stopping the cravings for carbs & sweets. Of course, I’m not one to jump on board with any new weight loss fad because I believe in the tried and true method of eating right and exercising. I didn’t want a meal replacement diet because that doesn’t teach you to eat the right foods. Who wants to take a friend to lunch only to see her sit there and not eat real food? That’s not a life-long change that is sustainable. BUT, I started thinking…if I had something, a simple powder you add to water once a day, that would stop my cravings and help level out my blood sugar, maybe I could focus on the nutrition. Maybe I could truly start fueling my body with the nutrients that Chris talks about because I wont be focused on all the sweets I’m missing out on.

Jump to today,  I am three week after starting Plexus Slim and their probiotic called ProBio5 (and you thought I had forgotten about my intestines) and I gotta say it is amazing. Simply amazing. I have more energy because my body is being fueled by good clean eating. I’m not craving the junk. That’s enough for me. I am not looking to lose a lot of weight. Now, I will be honest, like most women it’s always about the last ten pounds and I’ve said goodbye to 7 of those since starting Plexus. But that’s not the best part. The best part is I’m staying true to a clean-eating plan so I know my body is being fueled with nothing but the best nutrients!

In our family we all struggle with blood sugar issues and we’ve adopted the term “hangry” or rather “hungry-angry” for when we get shakey and have to eat something. Well, that’s not really from being hungry…that’s from a sugar crash. I’m not having those anymore. I’d call that a win for everyone in my family!

Like I said, I’m not looking for the make-me-skinny quick diet. I want something that can help me maintain a healthy weight for my frame and eat the way I should for life…and I’m pretty sure a meal replacement can’t teach you how to eat right!

Well, there’s my shameless plug for a product I don’t think enough people have heard about. Check it out for yourself (link below) and if you see me binge eating on some reeses peanut butter cups for the sweet love, please say something!
